Good Time to Buy a Newly Constructed Home in Prince William County

Construction of newly built single family homes, especially in Prince William County, is on the rise as builders respond to a revitalized housing market.

“Builders are noting an increased sense of urgency among potential buyers as a result of thinning inventories of homes for sale, continuing affordable mortgage rates, strengthening local economies,” says National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) Chair, Rick Judson.

This steady improvement in the market for newly constructed, single-family homes is reflected in the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI), a key indicator of builder confidence that rose by three points, from 41 points in April to 44 in May.  This is good news for the housing market and for the economy as a whole.  Derived from a monthly survey that NAHB has been conducting for 25 years, the NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index gauges builder perceptions of current single-family home sales and sales expectations.  Since single family new home construction has long been viewed as the “motor” that powers our prosperity, these findings indicate that better times are ahead for the home building industry.

What the rebounding new home construction market means for local homebuyers is a wider selection of houses to choose from.  New construction also gives homebuyers the opportunity to customize their homes to their exact specifications.
